E
Kala Mai, No Grants This Year
The amount of money raised from the Waimanalo Carnival
2004 was significantly
less than expected due to the rainy and re-scheduled Carnival event
this
year. As a result, the Friends of Waimanlo regretfully cannot take
requests for
grants this year because we do not have the money. We hope for a
better
situation next year. Mahalo. info@friendsofwaimanalo.com

Habitat
for Humanity requested help in funding for
homes being built in Waimanalo. They are looking to build 6-10
homes in the Waimanalo community. Families are required to
do 500 hours of labor before their home can be built. A 3-bedroom
2-bath home costs around $60,000-$65,000 to build. Habitat
has received a grant for $45,000 from the Case Foundation,
but Habitat and the families must come up with the remaining
$15,000-$20,000. To help support this effort in making it possible
for some families in Waimanalo who can qualify for a house
from Habitat, the Friends of Waimanalo has made a donation
to this project. For more information about Habitat for Humanity
